About Women's Development Cell Committee

Introduction-

Motto of the Women Development Cell of our college: Encourage, enhance and empower . The College has established a Women Development Cell in the college campus for the women faculty, staff and girl students, to enhance understanding of issues related to women and to make the college campus a safe place for them. With an aim of creating awareness of their rights and duties the cell organizes and participates in seminars, talks and also takes up women’s issues and problems. It also provides a platform for women to share their experiences and views regarding their status in the society and to suggest ways to improve and empower themselves.

Aiming at intellectual and social upliftment of the female students, the cell stands for facilitating women’s empowerment through guest lectures, seminars, awareness programmes, life skill training programmes, entrepreneur training and other welfare activities.

Objectives-

  • To prevent sexual harassment and to promote general well-being of female students, teaching and non teaching women staff of Smt. Sushiladevi Deshmukh College of Arts, Science & Commerce.
  • To provide appropriate working conditions in respect of work, leisure, health and hygiene to further ensure that there is no hostile environment towards women at work places and that no women employee has reasonable grounds to believe that she is disadvantaged in connection with her employment.
  • To provide guidelines for the redressal of grievances related to sexual Harassment of female students, teaching and non teaching staff of the university and affiliated colleges/institutions.
  • To create social awareness about the problems of women and in particular regarding gender discrimination.
  • To encourage participation of NGOs working in the area of women’s development in the activities of the Cell.
  • To organize seminars, workshops for creating general awareness and orientation of students, teachers, non-teaching staff for their active and sustained participation in the activities of Cell.
  • To organize various types of training programmes and create awareness about self-employment schemes for the encouragement of self-reliance among women.

  • Seminar on Topic “Role of law in protecting women Rights”
  • PPT presentation Competition on Topic “Need to Save Girl Child”
  • Essay Competition on topic “Women contribution in the Social Economic Development” and "Achievements and Empowerment of Women In Our Society ”
  • Seminar on "Awareness on Thalassaemia disease and Thallassaemia Test camp for all students."
  • Seminar on "Mental Health Awareness".
  • Seminar on Cancer Awaareness
  • Two Days Workshop On Self Defence Technique for girl Students.
  • Online Seminar on Awareness About Cyber Crime Specially For Women
  • Celebration of International Women's Day on 8th March.
